More About Applied Kinesiology
Applied Kinesiology is a diagnostic approach using the manual muscle test, therapy localisation and challenge to find whether a muscle is weak or strong. When a weak muscle is found and when a strong muscle becomes weak, means of strenghening are found. Corrections are then made according to the practitioners profession and skills.
Applied Kinesiology focus is on the patients individuality, away from standardised treatments and drugs. It gives the practitioner instant clinical feedback. You ask the questions, and the body gives the answers. How the question is asked determines the answer given. The body can only answer the question being asked. The more specific the question, the more specific the answer will be.
Applied Kinesiology is not meant to be used on its own. It should rather be used as one of the tools in your box of diagnostic tools. Functional disorders can be found and corrected with reproducible certainty. There are no pathoneumonics. Definite diagnostic conclusions can therefore not be made on muscle testing procedures alone. However, the vast amount of diagnostic techniques offered reveal dysfunction seen from many different angles.
Applied Kinesiology should not be confused with any other kinesiology or muscle testing procedures. In Applied Kinesiology the muscle testing procedures are muscle specific, group muscle testing and arm pull test are rarely used.
The International College of Applied Kinesiology (ICAK) is a multidisciplinary organisation with subchapters distributed throughout the world. It is open for membership to medical doctors, dentists, chiropractors, osteopaths and physiotherapists, etc. The muscle testing procedures presented in this manual are accepted by the ICAK unless otherwise stated.
The Test of Clinical Competence provides practitioners with a certificate of competence in the basic Applied Kinesiology procedures. Certified practitioners are registered and recommended by the ICAK.
The International Board of Examiners (IBE) is an organisation within the ICAK with the purpose to examine and certify practitioners trained in Applied Kinesiology. The Diplomate of ICAK (DIBAK) is accredited by the IBE and represents the highest level of knowledge and experience in the specialty of Applied Kinesiology.
The purpose is to spread the knowledge and skills offered by Applied Kinesiology to those interested and qualified to use it.
The aim is to increase the number of ICAK members and to certify clinically competent practitioners in Applied Kinesiology in order to spread the names of those registered locally and world wide for conferences, courses and referral basis.
